“The way to a man’s heart is through his stomach.” – But his heart is already there!

Most of the time, you can find your heart slightly left of center with the base above the apex in the chest.

Most of the time.

But in this particular case, you will find it slightly lower, in the center, where your abdomen is.

The particular case is Huang Rongming from China who was born with an extremely unusual defect.

His heart is in his abdomen.

Due to this very unusual location, Huang’s heart is left without the protection of ribs and thus particularly exposed to mechanical damage.

While a normal resting heart rate for an adult ranges from 60 to 100 bpm (beats per minute), Huang’s heart rate is similar to that of an infant – 120 bpm.

Huang is naturally very much a miracle child. Or a miracle man; after all he’s 24. But it kind of sucks to be a ‘miracle whoever’.

Huang’s extremely fragile and unprotected heart is like delicate china – any physical activity is practically off limits.

Makes you think twice about the proverb: “The way to a man’s heart is through his stomach.”
